Living My “Sin-Cuenta”: An Authentic Celebration

I turned 50 on August 1st. Whew.
And yes: it was spectacular.
Not because of a party. Not because of gifts.
But because I chose to celebrate it with myself (and with my husband, my kids, and our dog 🐾).
Back in June, before heading off to camp, I spent a few days wondering if I should write a “memorable” post for my 50th birthday. Something deep, impactful. A statement worthy of turning 50, haha.
But one day, I let go of that expectation.
I didn’t want to write anything before, or even on the day itself.
I opened up to the process. To the small. To the real.
So today, August 4th, here I am, writing with a full heart.
I’ve spent nearly two months traveling through remote places, mostly without internet. (Side note: yes, the U.S. is a developed country — but it doesn’t have complete coverage. That’s a whole other post...)
Back to my 50th:
I spent the day swimming in a lake, deep inside a canyon. (You can’t see me in the photo, but I’m there — just a tiny dot in the water. If you spot me, let me know! Haha.)
All around me, towering rock walls over 150 meters tall, with layers dating back more than 200 million years.
Geologists say each line represents a hundred years.
And there I was, celebrating 50... “big deal,” right?
The ego vanishes in less than a second.
In that smallness, I felt deeply connected.
As if everything heavy — even just a gram — had disappeared.
As if the only thing that mattered in that moment was to be, to feel, to let go.
My mind in those moments simply... marvels.
Words fall short when faced with such beauty, vulnerability, complexity, and simplicity all at once.
And I come back to what I live and share as a coach:
What’s memorable doesn’t always shout.
Sometimes it whispers — in a low voice, or in silence — hidden in everyday life.
As an introverted woman, I recharge by being with myself.
Thankfully, my solitude and I get along quite well :)
And yes, I’m social. I love connecting, sharing, being with friends who are essential to my life... and with my clients, who teach me with every session we share.
But without those moments alone, I wouldn’t be able to connect with you — or anyone.
And you — how do you reconnect with yourself?
How do you recharge your most powerful energy?
That energy that, even on the hardest days, reminds you there’s always something worth celebrating:
A morning wake-up.
A flower.
A ray of sunlight.
A slice of bread with butter.
A smile.
A small step forward.
A boundary you set.
An honest conversation.
While turning 50 —as in my case— is a beautiful milestone...
every single day matters. It’s up to you to make each day count.
What’s the last small thing you celebrated?
Feel free to text me! — I’d love that.
Thank you for being here.
